Kailey Hughes Kramer is a PhD with research interests in infectious disease clinical trials and pharmacoepidemiology. She currently works as the Research Manager in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease where she oversees clinical trials, the student internship program, IRB submissions, and emergency Investigational New Drug (eIND) applications. Since the start of the pandemic, she has served on the UPMC COVID-19 Pharmaceutical Committee where she provides expertise in the eIND application process to other hospitals in the UPMC health system. Her current work focuses on influenza vaccine effectiveness and COVID-19 in immunocompromised individuals. Her GSPH advisor is Dr. Catherine Haggerty, and she is mentored by Dr. Fernanda Silveira. Her career goal is to remain in academia where she can continue research focused on immunocompromised populations, teach and mentor the next generation of students.
